rules
overview
welcome to award! we are a faux celebrity community that fosters a creative, welcoming environment for characters with all sorts of claims to fame. whether you want to play an a-list actor with a squeaky clean image or a trainwreck popstar with a controversial reputation, everything is welcomed here and we encourage you to explore your options!

the standard golden rules of roleplay apply here the same as they do everywhere else - please don't cross the ic/ooc line, be respectful of your fellow members, and remember to continue to branch out and stay welcoming to new characters as the game progresses.

please keep in mind that a comm can only be as strong as its members, so we'd love for you to help us make this a place where people can create characters they're invested in long-term, and where writing and creativity take precedence!
apply
to apply, we require a blurb that summarizes your character's career trajectory and media perception along with a few facts that detail their backstory outline OR a traditional biography. once you have these prepared along with a list of credits, please ensure you have an in and out of character post in your journal and drop everything off at the application post.

examples, when required, can either be in a compilation journal or in an entry filtered to the mods. we are looking for at least one scene example with several replies along with an update example (preferably faux celeb, but any type of update will do). since we only request one example of each type, if we ask you for them, please ensure you show us your best!

if your application is deleted, we didn't feel your character would be a good fit for the community. if there are any issues with your credits, we will contact you before adds to give you a chance to rectify them but please note this may not always be possible depending on our schedules.

if two people apply with the same credits and are both acceptable fits, we will go on a first come, first serve basis. similarly if two people apply with the same face and both are deemed acceptable into the community, we will accept the first acceptable application and ask the second to change their played-by.
activity
we don't intend to be a community that hosts psls, so please join only if you're willing to be an active and inclusive member! that said, we also understand a balance between real life and rp is important, so our activity requirements are not too demanding.

each month we expect: 1. one update that has at least 200 words, 2. one post in one of the subcomms OR involvement in one of our activities. in addition, we expect members to continually post in pbads to remain welcoming to new members, so we ask that you drop off two pbads posts that you've posted throughout the month along with your update requirements.

first updates will be due within two weeks of acceptance. extensions will only be permitted until the next set of adds, typically a few days after the activity check has ended, and you cannot have an extension two months running. if you are removed, you must ensure you update before you can reapply. if you are removed twice for inactivity, we would ask that you don't apply a third time.

you will be up for override if your friends list is more than two weeks out of date or if you haven't commented a post on the friends page for two weeks. you will also need to reply to the majority of comments on your intro to avoid removal, so please give yourself enough time to post it and reply to the comments before your removal date.
credits
credits work similarly to past faux comms. the five year rule will apply here but we are happy to allow exceptions if it can realistically be pulled off. whitewashing is not permitted under any circumstances, but race-bending credits originated by white celebrities will be permitted if it makes sense for the credit. please keep realism, backgrounds, and cultural impact in mind for this.

directors, producers, and screenwriters can have their credits mixed and matched as long as you keep their particular style in mind. you may only claim one musician credit. we encourage credits beyond the norm, so if you'd like to bring a socialite, celebrity chef, or artist, then we'd love to see them! just ensure your claim is known enough that you'll have enough material for updates, and if you have any questions on how a particular claim should work then feel free to drop us a comment.
